Findlay Prep of the Henderson International School has announced Todd Simon as the new head coach of the Findlay Prep program.  

Simon served as Associate Head Basketball Coach of Findlay Prep for the past five seasons. During that time, the Pilots won three national high school invitational titles, accumulating a 157-8 overall record and a perfect 65-0 record at home. 

Simon has been with the program from inception in 2006 and has played a key role in building the program to national prominence.

“I’m honored to step in to this new role at Findlay Prep,” said Simon. “Over the years, our program has attracted many of the top players in the country. I look forward to continuing the tradition we have established here and being a mentor for our athletes.”

The Findlay Prep program has produced six McDonald’s All-Americans, six Jordan Brand All-Americans and six Parade All-Americans. A number of Findlay Prep athletes have gone on to play in the NBA, including Tristan Thompson (Cleveland), Avery Bradley (Boston), Cory Joseph (San Antonio), and DeAndre Liggins (Orlando).

Findlay 2012 alum Anthony Bennett spent 2 years with the program under Coach Peck and Coach Simon. "I'm really happy for Coach Peck .  He will do great coaching at the highest level," said Bennett.  "As for Findlay Prep, they will still be a power house team with a great coach stepping up to take the head coaching job."
 
The Findlay Prep program has a reputation of producing outstanding results both on and off the court.

Henderson, Nev.-(September 12, 2012) Henderson International School announced today the Portland Trail Blazers organization has named Findlay Prep Basketball Coach Michael Peck as the new head coach of its NBA Development League team, the Idaho Stampede.
Peck served as head basketball coach of the Findlay Prep program at Henderson International School for the past five seasons. During that time, Peck and his staff led Findlay Prep to three national titles, accumulating a 157-8 overall record and a perfect 65-0 record at home. 
“My time at Findlay Prep has been unforgettable,” said Peck. “During these past few seasons, I’ve had the opportunity to coach some amazing young talent. I’m excited to start this new chapter in my career with another incredible organization.”

Former NBA star Jerome Williams has worked closely with both Peck and Simon as director of player development at Findlay Prep. “Congratulations to Coach Mike on his new job,” said Williams. “I am thankful for all he has done to lay a strong foundation here at Findlay Prep. This is one of the best teams I have seen in the four years that I have been here. It’s going to be a great year.”

Findlay's Anthony Bennett & Brandon Ashley Named to Boost Mobile Elite 24 on ESPNU

Findlay Prep ‘s Anthony Bennett and Brandon Ashley have been named to the Boost Mobile Elite 24 at Venice Beach, CA on August 27. 

Brandon Ashley is a 6’9, 215lb senior ranked #5 overall in the ESPNU 100 list of top 2012 players.  Anthony Bennett is a 6’8, 230lb senior ranked #8 in the 2012 class. 

Last year Amir Garrett, Myck Kabongo, and Nick Johnson were selected for the Boost Mobile Elite 24.  Alums Tristan Thompson and Cory Joseph are also Elite 24 former participants.

Both are part of a 2011-12 Findlay team featuring 6 seniors; Bennett, Ashley, 6’8 Winston Shepard, 6’0 Dominic Artis, 7’0 Matt Willms, and 6’4 Amedeo Della Valle as well as 5 Juniors; 6’4 Nigel Williams-Goss, 6’9 Christian Wood, 6’9 Benas Griciunas, 6’3 Petar Rusic, 6’9 Nick Madray and 1 Sophomore 7’ Kingsley Okoroh.

FINDLAY FACTS

Over the life of the program 100% of our graduates have qualified with the NCAA Eligibility Center.  100% of our graduates have accepted and played NCAA Division 1 basketball.  As a team we have a record of 125-7 over the past 4 years with 2 ESPN Rise National High School Invitational Championships.  We have had 4 alums drafted into the NBA since June of 2010 including Avery Bradley to the Boston Celtics, Tristan Thompson to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cory Joseph to the San Antonio Spurs and DeAndre Liggins to the Orlando Magic.  In the classroom our alums continue to thrive in college.  We’ve had first team all-academic alums in the Pac-10, Mountain West, WAC, and ACC.

BOOST MOBILE FACTS

The Boost Mobile Elite 24 event consists of a dunk competition, the Under Armour High School Slam Dunk Contest, on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. EDT and a game on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. EDT. Both the dunk contest and the game will be televised live on ESPNU.

“Brandon Ashley, ranked No. 5 in the ESPNU 100, leads the class of 2012 contingent.

First-time participants include Anthony Bennett of Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), No. 8. Although he was injured at times last season, Bennett still earned second team ESPNHS Underclass All-American honors. He had an outstanding spring and summer -- earning raves for his play during the Nike E.Y.B.L., Pangos All-American Camp, and NBPA Camp.  

Bennett is a confirmed participant for the Under Armour Slam Dunk Contest. The dunk competition airs live on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.

"I'm excited to be in the dunk contest, but I definitely know that I've got to come up with some creative stuff," Bennett said. "I'll have to get to work on some good stuff so I can win.

"It's a big time honor to be picked for the Elite 24. I used to always hear Myck [Kabongo] talk about it last year just saying how much fun he had playing in that game. Now I'm getting a chance to be a part of it. It's a great feeling." 

Findlay Summer Update / 3 Findlay Alums Selected in 2011 NBA Draft

3 Findlay Pilot alums were drafted in the June NBA Draft

Tristan Thompson from the class of 2010 was selected 4th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Cory Joseph from the class of 2010 was selected 29th by the San Antonio Spurs.  DeAndre Liggins from the class of 2008 was selected 53rd by the Orlando Magic.  They join 2010 draft pick, Avery Bradley was selected 19th by the Boston Celtics as Findlay alums in the NBA.

*3 members of Findlay’s 2009 Undefeated National Championship team have now been 1st Round draft selections.

*3 of the 12 one-&-done 1st round selections from the previous 2 NBA drafts are former Pilots

Brandon Ashley (’12), Dominic Artis (’12), Nicholas Madray (’13), Christian Wood (’13), Kingsley Okoroh (’14) transfer to Findlay for 2011-12 school year

Brandon Ashley joins the Pilots as 6’8, 215lb forward.  Ashley is an Oakland, CA native transferring from Bishop O’Dowd.  His travel team, the Oakland Soldiers has been perennially among the best nationally.  He is ranked as high as #6 overall (ESPN) in the class of 2012.

Dominic Artis comes to Findlay as a 6’0, 175lb guard from Richmond, Ca.  Artis is transferring from Salesian HS.  He also plays for the Oakland Soldiers program.  Artis is ranked as high as #82 overall (Rivals) in the class of 2012.

Nicholas Madray is a 6’9, 200lb forward from Toronto, Canada.  He is transferring from Stephen S. Lewis HS.  Madray plays for the CIA Bounce travel program.  Madray is ranked the #6 2013 Canadian prospect & #1 at the forward position (Flagrant Fouls.com).

Christian Wood is a 6’9, 200lb forward from Palmdale, CA.  He is transferring from Knight HS.  Wood plays for the So Cal All-Stars travel program.  Wood is ranked as high as #33 overall in the 2013 rankings (Scout).  Wood is a UNLV verbal commit.

Kingsley Okoroh is a 7’, 225lb center from Watford, England.  Okoroh is currently playing for the England U16 team.

The 4 new transfers join class of 2012 returners Anthony Bennett (6’8, 235, ranked as high as #7 overall) & Winston Shepard (6’8, 215 ranked as high as #44 overall) and 2013 returners Nigel Williams-Goss (6’4, 190, ranked as high as #26 overall) & Benas Griciunas (6’9, 205)
